In the spring, Luke will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for about 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million.

The NMSC competition began with about 1.6 million students from some 22,000 high schools across the Nation. As a finalist, Luke ranks in the top 0.5% of students across the country.

“We are proud of Luke and wish him the very best in the next steps of this competition, and in all of his future endeavors,” said Superintendent Danny Massey.

Luke is the son of Jay and Amy Whitehead. He is also active in Computer Science and Golf along with his amazing academic skills.
