The purpose of the Aspiring Administrator Academy is to identify, recruit, select and equip teacher leaders from a variety of levels and specializations with the broad knowledge, skills and experiences that prepare them for potential positions in school and district leadership.

Candidates were screened to identify a diverse and talented group of educators with strong instructional expertise, a record of raising achievement, and the disposition to lead others to excellence. Twenty-two teachers, coaches and other BISD personnel from across the district were then selected to participate in the program.

The Aspiring Administrator Academy is aligned to the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Principal Domains and the five standards of the BISD Assistant Principal Evaluation & Support Self-Assessment Tool. The twenty-two participants have committed to attend seven half-day sessions throughout the course of the school year. The sessions focus on areas that support effective performance in a school or district leadership position and provide participants the opportunity to reflect on necessary leadership skills and responsibilities that will improve student achievement and the school community as a whole.

By completion of the program, BISD’s aspiring leaders will be prepared for the next steps in their careers.
