LIFT UP Mentoring is a school-based mentoring program that connects supportive, caring adults with students in Brazosport ISD. We believe in the transformative effect one caring adult can have on a child's life. We would love to have you join our worthy endeavor, Leaders Inspiring the Future Today!
How to Become a LIFT UP Mentor?
- Application & Criminal Background Check: Volunteers/mentors submit mentor application and volunteer background check application. Part of this application is a criminal background check.
- Training: Because training will prepare you for how to be the best volunteer/mentor you can be, it is required.
- Commitment: Mentors meet with their students one day a week for 30 minutes at the campus during school hours. You are committing to mentor for the school year in which you are matched, but if you and your mentee are both interested, you may continue meeting in subsequent school years.
The Process:
- Complete the Mentor Application
- Complete the Volunteer Background Check Application
- Watch the BISD Volunteer Orientation Training Video
- Attend a required mentor training session to help guide you in becoming a successful mentor. You will be given procedures to follow, tips for working with young people and recommended mentor/mentee activities.
Mentor Training Schedule:
All first time mentors must come to a training class prior to being matched with a BISD student. Please use the interest form below to receive more information about training schedules and registration information. Unless indicated, all training is at the BISD Administration Building located at 301 W. Brazoswood Drive, Clute, Texas 77531.
